Love to Paddle or just starting out? Join us on a SUP Adventure to the Slate River, Emerald Lake, Taylor Park Reservoir or the Blue Mesa Reservoir.
You will learn the basics in safety and technique. Our experienced and friendly instructors will have you standing up and paddling in no time. We are the only PaddleFit certified coaches in the valley, which means you will get top coaching and instruction while having fun on the water.
Adventures to Emerald Lake, Taylor Park Lake, or the Blue Mesa Reservoir:
$87 per person, from 9am-12 Monday-Friday

The Blue Mesa Reservoir is the largest body of water in Colorado. The area is filled with beautiful mesas, deep narrow canyons, and fjord like lakes. It is a great place for beginner lessons, with the water temps getting warmer than other lakes in the region. Travel distance: 45 minutes
Emerald Lake is a scenic, high alpine lake off of Schofield Pass that earns it's name from it's gorgeous colored water. The lake is small in diameter, but makes up for it with it's beauty and remote location. Travel distance: 45 minutes
Taylor Park Reservoir is a large body of water created by the Taylor Park dam and offers beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. At the base of Cottonwood Pass, Taylor Park is known for fishing and camping, but it's calm waters also make it a perfect place to learn to SUP. Travel distance 45 minutes

The Slate River is known for snaking it's way through Crested Butte, flowing from a source near Yule Pass and finally joining the East River southeast of CB. The length of river from town to Skyland is know for it's mellow twists and turns, as well as beautiful views of Mount Crested Butte and Paradise Divide. Depending on river flow, the tour can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. We will begin in town and end our adventure in Skyland.
Level 1: Lower Slate
A great intro tour for the newbie SUPer, whether you’ve never been on a board, or never been on a river. The Lower Slate is a winding “lazy river” that varies in flow as the season progresses. Great for families, work team building sessions or wedding parties with varied experience levels and ages. Level 2: Upper Slate
Requirements*: Must have completed the Lower Slate tour once, or floated the Lower Slate successfully and comfortably with demonstrated ability of all paddle strokes and complete our questionnaire to verify ability level. The Upper Slate is swifter, windier, and with a few more rocks and obstacles. This is a great tour for the seasoned paddler looking to get a little more excitement and high alpine views. All tours feature a 15 minute instruction session on the shore, all safety gear and travel to and from the put in/take out.
Level 3: Gunnison River- tours available 2018.
Requirements*: Must have completed the Upper Slate tour once, floated the Upper and Lower Slate successfully and comfortably with demonstrated ability, have experience SUPing river of similar class rating and complete our questionnaire to verify ability level. The Gunnison is a fast and high flowing river that will take the brave and seasoned paddler to the edges of their comfort zone, with swift rapids and hairpin turns. All tours feature a 15 minute instruction session on the shore, all safety gear and travel to and from the put in/take out.
*The final decision to allow a patron to take a tour is at the discretion of CB Standup Paddle. The safety and enjoyment of all patrons on our tours is our top priority. If CB SUP deems an individual not suited to take a higher level tour, it is with your safety and enjoyment in mind, as well as the safety and enjoyment of other paddlers on the tour. We will recommend a tour that is comparable to your ability level so that you have the most fun, in the safest environment!
